Dr. Sayan Patra-Das is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist specialising in ultrasound-led gynaecological care. Her clinical practice focuses on acute gynaecology, early pregnancy care, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding and benign gynaecological conditions, with expertise in both laparoscopic (keyhole) and open abdominal surgery, as well as hysteroscopic procedures.
She offers a highly personalised “one-stop” approach to gynaecological care, where consultation, ultrasound assessment and treatment planning are carried out within the same appointment. This allows women to receive answers and reassurance immediately, without the need for multiple visits or delayed investigations. Where surgical treatment is required, Dr. Patra-Das personally performs the procedure herself, ensuring continuity of care from diagnosis through to treatment and recovery.
She completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the London Deanery, training at several major teaching hospitals including Guy’s and St Thomas’, the Royal Free Hospital, the Royal London Hospital and Homerton Hospital, before being appointed as a substantive Consultant at Homerton University Hospital where her NHS practice takes place currently.
Dr. Patra-Das is particularly recognised for her advanced ultrasound expertise, having received specialist training at University College London under world-renowned expertise in the field. This allows her to diagnose many conditions during the initial consultation. She manages a wide range of findings that may arise on scan, including ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometrial abnormalities and early pregnancy complications.
